The merits of Vitebsk Medical University have been recognized with the Honorary State Banner of Belarus

The Vitebsk State Order of Peoples' Friendship Medical University is one of the flagships among educational institutions in Belarus and enjoys well-deserved authority, training personnel for many countries around the world. This was stated today by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, at a solemn meeting of the University Council on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the university, according to a BELTA correspondent.

The university's special merits in the socio-cultural development of the country, its significant contribution to the development of the healthcare system, and its provision with scientific, medical, and pharmaceutical personnel have been recognized with the Honorary State Banner of the Republic of Belarus. Alexander Kosinets read out a congratulatory message from the head of state and presented the Honorary Banner to the rector of the medical university, Valery Deikalo.

According to the chairman of the regional executive committee, today the Vitebsk Medical University is a competitive university not only in the post-Soviet space but also in the whole world. Its graduates work in 110 countries on all continents of the globe, the university is actively engaged in exporting educational services and implementing modern innovative technologies. "75 years of VGMU can be concisely described in three words - labor, talent, valor of the teaching staff, and of the entire staff, which has trained a huge galaxy of specialists and continues its noble work," noted Alexander Kosinets.

The Vitebsk Medical University has an excellent material and technical base. In 2010, the morphological building will be commissioned, and the construction of the library will begin. In 2011, it is planned to complete the creation of the powerful enterprise "BelVitunipharm," where an educational, scientific, and production base will be established for the only pharmaceutical faculty in Belarus. In addition, the regional executive committee will take optimal measures to improve the material and technical base of the medical and preventive institutions of the regional center, which will also allow increasing the effectiveness of the work of the medical faculty of the medical university, added Alexander Kosinets.-0-
