The first stage of the reconstruction of the "Rylinki" memorial complex is being completed
Over 320 new memorial plaques with the names of the fallen have already been installed at the complex, pedestrian paths have been laid, the fence has been replaced, tiles have been laid, and the territory has been tidied up. The names of over 9.6 thousand soldiers are immortalized here. "Rylionki" is probably the largest memorial complex in the Vitebsk region. There were certain difficulties during the reconstruction, but its first stage is nearing completion. We plan to open the memorial site in mid-2020," said Vladimir Terentyev.
By April next year, the region plans to install about 350 information banners about military burials and memorials located along the highways. The region also plans to create a unified register of monuments and burials related to the Great Patriotic War, including those that fall outside the legal framework of Decree No. 109 "On immortalizing the memory of those who died in the defense of the Fatherland and preserving the memory of war victims."
There are 1463 military burial sites in the Vitebsk region, where over 400 thousand people are buried. This year, almost 6 thousand previously unknown names of those who died during the war were added to the memorial plaques. Over Br900 thousand earned from the community work day was allocated for the improvement of burial sites.
The list of historical and cultural values in the northern region includes 957 items. This year, three objects were added to the list: a monument to the Battle of 1812 in the agro-town of Vorony, Vitebsk district, the Shukhov water tower in the Tolochin district, and the "Surazh Gate" monument.
