The "Slavianski Bazaar" opens tomorrow in Vitebsk

The Summer Amphitheatre is undergoing final preparations: adjusting microphones, lighting, and cameras. However, the beloved artists will add the finishing touches to the musical portrait of the city's main festival venue today. The first soundchecks by stars will begin in the evening. But the close attention of "Slavianski Bazaar" fans is not only focused on famous artists. Each of the 14 participants in the "Vitebsk-2020" competition for young performers will have their chance to hit the right note – the jury chairman Oleg Gazmanov will ensure this. But before the contestants take the stage, the members of the judging panel and invited guests of the opening concert will have their rehearsals. At the 29th festival, which begins tomorrow at 20:30, all the best and most beloved artists will perform – from Philipp Kirkorov and Alexander Buynov to the finalist of the show "The Voice" Ladislav Bubnar and the chairman of the jury for the children's competition Alexander Solodukha. Alexander Lukashenko is expected to attend the festival's opening ceremony.

Chords of Friendship

Good news for all fans of the melodious Ukrainian "mova". After a several-year hiatus, Ukraine Day is returning to the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk". "Z Ukrainoyu v sertsi!" (With Ukraine in my heart!) is the name of the large-scale concert that will take place on the main festival stage on July 18 at 6:00 PM. Who can we expect? Tina Karol, Iryna Bilyk, Mykola Natyuk, Taisiya Povaliy, the super-popular band Kazka, and many, many others. The musical producer of the project from the Ukrainian side, the renowned composer Viktoriia Kokhana, honestly admits:

— Of course, inviting such a number of top artists for a performance in a large-scale concert during quarantine was quite challenging, but we still managed to reach agreements with those who have long been loved and appreciated not only in Ukraine but also in Belarus.

The head and chief director of the project, Roman Nedzelskyi, confirms:

— I know that the Belarusian public has been eagerly awaiting the resumption of Ukraine Days at the "Slavianski Bazaar". I've often heard about it, as I organized and held 5 concerts – Days of Ukrainian Culture – in various cities of Belarus. We traveled all over the country, and our events were always mega-successful. Moreover, this was a request from the audience themselves, the desire of our Belarusian friends and neighbors who sincerely love Ukraine and miss its performers. And now we will make our presence felt again on the main stage in the Vitebsk Summer Amphitheater.

By the way, over almost three decades of the festival, the "Slavianski Bazaar" has become a springboard into the world of big music for many singers who are famous today. Interestingly, the first winner of the competition for young performers at the "Slavianski Bazaar" was a Ukrainian – Oleksa Berest. The musician's fame did not extend beyond his native country, but in Ukraine, Oleksa is considered a top-tier star. A year later, in 1993, Taisiya Povaliy, then little-known, performed triumphantly in Vitebsk and forever inscribed her name in the history of the "Slavianski Bazaar", becoming the first recipient of the Grand Prix at the competition for young performers. In 1994, Oleksandr Ponomariov, now a People's Artist and a star coach on Ukrainian "The Voice", achieved a resounding victory. And two years later, the Grand Prix was taken to Kyiv by singer
Ruslana is the winner of Eurovision-2004.

Roman Nedzelsky is convinced that it is simply impossible to erase "Slavianski Bazaar" from the history of the most successful Ukrainian performers and the history of local show business as a whole:

— Belarus invited us this year. We responded and returned. This means that a dialogue between Ukrainian art and the Belarusian public will take place again in the Summer Amphitheatre. I hope it won't be the last one. Personally, I and our creative team are guided by a simple principle: where the Ukrainian song sounds, there is Ukraine.

It will be difficult to count how many people will be spectators of the festival program of this year's "Slavianski Bazaar". After all, unlike famous open-air forums that take place on one site, the stages of the Vitebsk festival will be the city's squares and streets.

The meeting place cannot be changed

And as for what new star name will shine at the competition of young performers this year, viewers will find out on Sunday. 14 participants of the adult competition and 17 of the children's competition – all guests will arrive with their delegations on time, despite the difficulties associated with border closures. The geography is very wide: Canada, Cuba, France, Italy, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina… For young performers and young stars, our festival is a lucky ticket, a chance to make themselves known. After all, the chairmen of the jury, Oleg Gazmanov and Alexander Solodukha, are significant figures in the music world.

For the chief choirmaster of Russian show business, evaluating young people is already a familiar task. Oleg Gazmanov was a member of the judging panel in Vitebsk for the first time 12 years ago. The artist has celebrated his birthday more than once at "Slavianski Bazaar".

Oleg Gazmanov's colleague in the judging seat, Alexander Solodukha, has his own memories of festival Vitebsk. In 1992, his superhit "Hello, Strange Darling" was first performed at "Slavianski Bazaar". But for tomorrow's concert, the artist is still preparing a premiere novelty:

— I won't reveal the title yet, but it will be a bomb! First of all, I advise all contestants not to worry and to be as positive as possible. The main thing is to pull yourself together and show everything you can do, what your teachers and parents have taught you. And not toYou should not be afraid of failures. It is important to be able to admit mistakes, move on, and win.
