The building of the former Vitebsk cinema 'Brigantina' is put up for auction
The "Brigantina" cinema in Vitebsk has not been operational for many years. In May 2010, this unused building was leased to a Russian company for 30 years on the condition of completing major repairs and modernization. Later, in 2012, a draft decision on gratuitous transfer was prepared. By the way, the book value of the building at that time was estimated at over 10 billion rubles. In February of the same year, the expediency of the donation was checked by the State Control Committee.
Specialists of the control body first noted that the lessor had not even started the repairs, the completion of which the regional executive committee had planned for November 2012. Further study of the situation revealed that the planned gratuitous transfer did not meet state interests. The building with an area of over 1.9 thousand square meters is located in an attractive part of the regional center. As practice shows, such facilities are in demand and generate good revenue for the budget.
The arguments of the State Control Committee were taken into account, and in October 2013, a decision was made to sell the former "Brigantina" cinema building by auction. The starting price was set at over 11 billion rubles. The "Vitebskoblimushchestvo" Fund plans to hold the auction in the near future.
