A 19th-century chapel building in Vitebsk was sold at auction for Br57 thousand.

The building of the former chapel in Vitebsk was sold at auction today for Br57 thousand, which is more than 2.1 thousand times the starting price. This was reported by the Vitebsk Regional Property Committee, which organized the auction.

The facility attracted a record number of participants for Vitebsk Regional Property Committee auctions in the last 20 years: 14 potential buyers showed interest in it. The winner was identified at the 68th step of the auctioneer. The new owner is a private company from the regional center, which specializes in engineering support for construction activities. According to its representative, the building is planned to be reconstructed into an office space, while the owner intends to fully preserve the architectural form and color scheme.

According to the committee, the chapel was built in 1859 by Vitebsk landowner Stepan Dunin-Sleptsov. In 1939, the building was reconstructed and a second floor was added. Until recently, the facility was on the balance sheet of Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov.

The lot includes a two-story building with an area of 135 sq.m. with a basement, an extension and a fence, as well as a land plot of 0.1026 ha, leased for 25 years. The building was put up for auction for the fifth time with a starting sale price of 1 BSU (Br27).

According to the auction results, an artesian well in the Liozno district on the border with Russia, near the R21 highway (its new owner is a private company from Liozno), and a former fire station in the agro-town of Matyushi, Polotsk district, which was acquired by an entrepreneur from Novopolotsk, were also sold today. Both facilities were put up for one base value.

According to Vitebsk Regional Property Committee, since the beginning of the year, 15 objects have been sold at the committee's auctions for a total amount of over Br192 thousand. Objects put up for auction for 1 BSU (eight structures sold) are the most popular among potential buyers, as well as those with a reduction in the starting price by 80% (six buildings).
