Housing, roads, and school closure: what issues were raised with Anatoly Linevich during a citizen reception in Vitebsk

In the Vitebsk District Executive Committee, Presidential Aide – Inspector for the Vitebsk Region Anatoly Linevich held a "direct line" and received citizens. In two hours, eight residents of the region appealed to him.

The meeting was set in motion by a call from Yulia from Vitebsk, who thanked Anatoly Linevich for his help in returning a family heirloom. This happened a year ago when unscrupulous tenants sold her property, including an antique piano. To get it back, she had to contact the Presidential Aide via the "direct line," and only then did the matter begin to move forward.

In such situations, emotions are unavoidable. The Vitebsk resident did not hold back her emotions, to which Anatoly Konstantinovich responded:

– It would be wonderful if you played "Victory Day" for your neighbors on your instrument on May 9th, a holiday sacred to every Belarusian. In some cases, emotions that come from the heart help resolve issues.

By this, he hinted that the employees of the Vitebsk District Executive Committee act in the same way – they process all the problems that concern the population, as evidenced by the fact that there was only one appeal from the district. More calls came from Vitebsk and other regions, with some raising issues repeatedly, not waiting for official responses after the first appeal.

How can one do without emotions when things have reached a boiling point, when a young family with three small children needs to settle down, but has nowhere to live? Presidential Aide remembers Anastasia L. from Vitebsk well. She had previously applied for rental housing that the family wants to obtain. It so happened that she was on the waiting list for housing improvement in the district, but then she registered at her grandmother's place and was removed from the list. However, even when obtaining rental housing, one needs to be on a waiting list, and by the time her turn comes, a lot of water will have passed under the bridge. They need to live now.

Anatoly Linevich emphasized that such issues are not resolved quickly. He ordered that the young mother be informed of other options, in particular, building her own home with preferential state support. In any case, he personally keeps the housing issue for the young family under control.

What pressing issues do citizens raise with local authorities? They mainly concern housing and communal services, the condition of roads and cemeteries (and there are 360 of them in the district serviced by housing and communal services), and garbage removal from garden associations, and employment. The Chairman of the District Executive Committee, Gennady Sabinich, informed that the district leadership and local Soviets try to resolve issues immediately. In anticipation of May 9, they organize events and activities for veterans, of whom there are only 17 left in the district, and 249 persons equated to them. They are presented with certificates, cash prizes, and food packages. Recently, a celebration was held for Nikolai Golubev, a war veteran and home front worker living in the agro-town of Kirovskaya.

Valery S., a resident of the village of Vistavka in the Vitebsk region, who called the "direct line," is concerned about the condition of a 200-meter section of the road leading to the village. The district executive committee is aware of the problem. A quarry will be built nearby, and before that, road workers are obliged to cover this section of the road. In any case, such a promise was given to the Aide to the President.

A rural woman from the agro-town of Androny in the Postavy district called to express her concern that their school, attended by 21 schoolchildren and 8 preschoolers, is going to be closed. She has three children, including preschool age. And she, as a mother, is worried that such young children will have to be sent 25 km to Postavy and back every day. On behalf of all parents, she asked to consider this issue, which is important to them. Anatoly Linevich promised to study the issue and provide an answer.

Another mother of a preschooler called from Vitebsk with a request to positively resolve the issue of parents attending the graduation ceremony at kindergarten No. 2, as restrictions have been introduced due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Other calls received from Lepel and Postavy concerned the operation of commercial entities. In one case, commercial transportation interferes with the work of state passenger transport organizations, and in another, former employees are not paid money upon bankruptcy. Anatoly Linevich promised to investigate each specific case, especially when it comes to wages.

The President's Aide will pay attention to these and other issues during his visit to private enterprises "Belfood Production", "Regita", "Vinreal" in the Vitebsk region.
