A resident of the Chashniki district stole almost 600 kg of pumpkin from a fellow villager overnight
September 9, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. A resident of Chashniki district stole almost 600 kg of pumpkin from a fellow villager overnight, the Chashniki District Department of Internal Affairs informed a BELTA correspondent.
This summer turned out to be fruitful for a 59-year-old resident of the village of Kruglytsa: the pumpkin she grew on 30 acres of land for feeding livestock pleased both the owner's eye and the neighbor's. A 35-year-old fellow villager could not remain indifferent, looking at such wealth. Deciding to follow the pensioner's example, and at the same time take the pumpkin, under the cover of night, using a service cart belonging to the local district agroservice, the man arrived at the pumpkin plantation. He worked diligently: he did not trample around the garden in vain and did not pick the best, but took everything. The night "helper" got tired after two trips, which were enough to fill his modest-sized shed.
The disappearance of an insignificant part of the outstanding harvest was discovered the next day. Not wanting to share even a small part with an unknown person, the woman reported to the police, whose officers identified the thief. Now, a criminal case has been initiated against the resident of Chashniki district for theft under Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of Belarus, which provides for up to three years of imprisonment. The stolen pumpkin has been returned to its owner. -0-
