Latvian resident lost his SUV over two cartons of cigarettes

Житель Латвии лишился своего внедорожника из-за двух блоков сигарет
As reported by Ilya Belous, prosecutor of the regional prosecutor's office, a 55-year-old resident of Latvia, traveling from Belarus through the "Plyusy" simplified customs clearance point in the Braslav district, attempted to transport 20 packs of cigarettes worth 233 thousand rubles, in violation of customs legislation. He had equipped secret compartments in his car for this purpose. By decision of the Oktyabrsky District Court of Vitebsk, the man was brought to administrative responsibility: he was fined 30 basic units (5.4 million rubles), and his car and cigarettes were confiscated.

To avoid a similar situation, Ilya Belous reminds, please note that in accordance with the requirements of the list and quantity of goods for personal use, imported and exported from the Republic of Belarus through simplified customs clearance points across the state border, accompanied baggage of individuals is allowed to contain no more than 40 cigarettes per individual who has reached the age of 18.
