Resident of Orsha district sentenced to a long prison term for tormenting his wife
April 28, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. A resident of the Orsha district has been sentenced to a long prison term for torturing his wife, Dmitry Orekhvo, prosecutor of the department for supervision of the legality of court decisions in criminal cases and analysis of judicial practice of the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, told a BELTA correspondent.
The family idyll of a common-law couple from one of the villages of the Orsha district was shattered along with a car bought with the wife's parents' money and mercilessly destroyed by her husband. The frequent scandals that followed invariably ended in verbal altercations and fights, in which the repeatedly convicted 24-year-old man had the upper hand. The husband did not hesitate to "discipline" his better half, although he knew that in the Criminal Code, such "lessons" were equated to torture. The final straw was the last fight, after which the woman had to spend two months in the hospital due to grievous bodily harm.
For systematic torture and causing grievous bodily harm, the resident of the Orsha district was sentenced to six years and three months of imprisonment. The sentence has entered into legal force.-0-
