A resident of Rossony complained to the President about low wages and unemployment in the district center. Executive Committee's response

Around 2.5 thousand appeals were received during the preparation and holding of the "Big Conversation with the President", and not a single one, as Alexander Lukashenko assured, will be left without attention. In accordance with the head of state's instructions, work on their consideration is under special control in the Presidential Administration. All appeals are systematized and sent to specific authorities for the adoption of necessary measures.

Citizens of Belarus are concerned about various aspects of life, both of the country as a whole and personal ones. Over 40% of the total number are issues of local significance. One of them came from a resident of Rossony, who complained about low wages and lack of jobs in the urban settlement.

We asked the Deputy Chairman of the Rossony District Executive Committee, Alexey Sappo, to clarify the situation.

– Last year, 491 people applied to the district executive committee regarding employment, assistance in finding work was provided to 380 citizens, including 246 unemployed; 31 people were sent for retraining to obtain in-demand specialties. There is no tension in the district's labor market. Employers have announced 107 vacancies, including 35 for blue-collar jobs. The number of registered unemployed is 25 people, – said Alexey Yuryevich.

New business entities are created in the district annually. Thus, over the past two years, nine new production facilities have been registered in various sectors of the economy – woodworking, agriculture, and services for the repair of knitwear, hosiery, and headwear.

Retail stores of Vitebsk Broiler Poultry Factory, Lagun Trading House, and EVROTORG LLC have been opened. 77 people have been employed in new jobs.

In addition, conditions are being created for the self-employment of the population. In 2018, 47 residents of the district provided household services without registering as individual entrepreneurs, 31 were engaged in crafts, and 10 people carried out activities in the field of agro-ecotourism.

The average monthly salary in the district for 2018 was 669.3 rubles, including 720.3 rubles for December.

– Insufficient revenue from the sale of agricultural products, caused in part by a seasonal decrease in milk production, has been the main reason for the periodically occurring arrears in wage payments to agricultural organization employees.

The situation is under daily control at the district executive committee. Rural workers have been provided with the opportunity to replace monetary wage payments with in-kind payments, which is permitted by Article 74 of the Labor Code of the Republic of Belarus. The amount of in-kind payment is determined by each employee independently.

Across organizations, the level of in-kind wage payments varies from 18 to 28%, – reported Alexey Sarppo.
