August 3, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. A resident of the Ushachi district will pay a large fine for illegal hunting and resisting a state inspector for the protection of fauna and flora, Dmitry Orekhva, prosecutor of the department for supervision of the legality of court decisions in criminal cases and analysis of judicial practice of the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, told a BELTA correspondent. The 38-year-old poacher was illegally hunting wild boars in the evening near a forest feeding ground, where he was discovered by a state inspector for the protection of fauna and flora. Blood traces of a wounded animal, a hunting knife, and a double-barreled shotgun clearly indicated the fact of poaching. For his actions, the offender was brought to administrative responsibility in the form of a fine of Br3.5 million and six months of deprivation of the right to hunt. Over six months, employees of inter-district inspectorates for the protection of fauna and flora have identified more than 1.6 thousand violations of environmental legislation, the Vitebsk Regional Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora told a BELTA correspondent. The amount of damage caused to nature is estimated at almost Br336 million. The total amount of fines imposed on offenders amounted to almost Br400 million. -0-
