Vitebsk resident saves drunk man drowning in the Dvina River
In the evening of April 27, Vladislav Golubovsky from Vitebsk saved a person drowning in the Dvina River. Together with a friend, he was on the river bank on the side of Chernyakhovsky Avenue. Suddenly, a cry was heard. A person was floundering in the water, clearly losing strength. Vladislav rushed to help without hesitation. The drowning man was about ten meters away; the guy's two-meter height helped him reach him – in this spot, ordinary people would have disappeared underwater, but for Vladislav, the water level was almost up to his neck. After pulling the man ashore, an ambulance was called. Soon, the police and the Ministry of Emergency Situations also arrived. The rescued person turned out to be a 48-year-old resident of the village of Komary, Vitebsk district; he was in a state of severe alcohol intoxication, and his face was beaten. The ambulance took him to the intensive care unit.
In his 24 years, Vladislav Golubovsky has tried his hand at several professions, and recently decided to become a cook. After completing special courses at the employment center, he is currently undergoing an internship at the Lyubava cafe, located in the Vitebsk Regional Diagnostic Center. Colleagues speak of him as a promising specialist and are proud of the young man's deed.
The regional organization of OSVOD informed us that Vladislav Golubovsky's decisiveness and compassion will be recognized with a valuable gift.
