Assistant to the President - Inspector for the Vitebsk Region Alexander Poznyak held a reception of citizens in the town of Kopys, Orsha District

Residents of Kopyś, through their active participation and attentive oversight, are contributing to the transformation of the urban-type settlement, including by offering suggestions during citizen reception hours on how to avoid mistakes or rectify shortcomings. This opinion was expressed today by the Aide to the President – Inspector for the Vitebsk Region, Aleksandr Pozniak, following a citizen reception in the urban-type settlement of Kopyś, Orsha District.

"There are quite a few issues. They concern the improvement of the town, households, and interaction with authorities. Among the appeals from residents dissatisfied with certain miscalculations by builders, there were cases where, as it turned out, the work had simply not yet been completed. For example, a resident of one of the houses complained about a high curb, unaware that a ramp was still planned. However, there are situations that require a re-examination, taking into account the terrain and other nuances. And then, decisions must be made with the involvement of the residents. Such receptions are important so that residents can point out problems that may have been overlooked by clients or contractors. I am grateful to those who came to the meeting with me and raised these issues," noted Aleksandr Pozniak.

In his opinion, the concern of the residents of Kopyś speaks volumes in their favor. They understand that the current transformations are being made precisely for them and strive to participate directly in the improvement efforts. Eight people had registered for an appointment with the Aide to the President, but the queue of those wishing to speak continued to grow during the reception. More than 20 people came to share their opinions and concerns: on issues of inheritance and housing privatization, improvement of adjacent territories, wages, and gasification of houses. Some expressed that the interaction between the settlement council and the public is insufficient. A pressing issue was raised by employees of the Orsha Building Materials Plant and the cheese production workshop of the Orsha Dairy Plant – the topic of employment for the residents of the urban-type settlement. The Aide to the President responded unequivocally to this: providing them with jobs in Kopyś itself should be a priority.

"On the issues that can be resolved immediately, together with my colleagues, the district executive committee, and the settlement council, we

decisions were made during the reception. Some issues require further study – instructions have also been given on them. To take people's interests into account,” Alexander Poznyak concluded.

The urban settlement of Kopys in the Orsha district is currently undergoing major reconstruction. At the end of last year, the head of state, at a meeting on the development prospects of the Orsha and Shklov districts, set the task to transform Kopys in such a way as to show on its example how a modern village should look. The first stage of work should be completed by June 1.
