March 12, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotovetsov - BELTA /. Residents of the Vitebsk region submitted almost 3.7 thousand income tax returns during the declaration campaign that concluded on March 1, the press center of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties Inspectorate for the Vitebsk region informed a BELTA correspondent. Based on the results of income tax recalculation, declarants will have to pay an additional Br866.2 million. Also, during the campaign, citizens submitted 277 declarations in connection with receiving tax deductions. The amount of overpaid income tax refunded was over Br80 million. The largest number of citizens who submitted declarations are registered with tax authorities in Vitebsk, Polotsk, Novopolotsk, and Orsha – the inspectorates of these cities accepted over 64.5% of the declarations filed in the region as a whole. For example, residents of the regional center submitted almost 1.1 thousand declarations. Vitebsk residents will have to pay an additional Br356.9 million, or 41% of the total amount of additional charges in the region. Over 52% (Br41.2 million) of the total amount of overpaid income tax is accounted for by residents of the regional center. The press center recalled that due to amendments to the law "On Personal Income Tax," the procedure for declaring income has changed slightly since January 1, 2009. Thus, with the introduction of the procedure for calculating income tax from monthly income, aggregate income declaration has also been abolished. However, certain categories of individuals are still required to submit an income tax return (calculation). In 2009, residents of the region submitted over 11.1 thousand declarations of aggregate annual income for 2008, including over 2 thousand by individual entrepreneurs. Based on the results of income tax recalculation, slightly over 3.6 thousand taxpayers had to make additional payments totaling over Br1.2 billion. In addition, citizens received refunds of over Br1.8 billion in overpaid tax payments. -0-
