A livestock complex and an infectious diseases unit of the local hospital were opened in the Chashniki district

Животноводческий комплекс и инфекционное отделение местной больницы открыли в Чашникском районе
Two significant facilities for the Chashniki district – the production site for pig breeding and fattening in the village of Shelkovshchina and the infectious diseases department of the Novolukoml Central District Hospital – were solemnly opened on October 11. The ceremony was attended by Vladimir Penin, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee.

As Vladimir Petrovich noted, this is a good stimulus for the development of both the economy and the social sphere of the district, working to provide local residents with jobs, decent wages, and, undoubtedly, to improve working conditions.

The Shelkovshchina Production Site is a livestock complex created on the basis of a reconstructed cattle breeding farm. As Sergey Senchenko, Deputy General Director of Vitebskagropromproduct CJSC, explained, the sewage and ventilation systems have been completely replaced in the six buildings, and new feeding lines have been installed.

The investment project to commission the production site in the village of Shelkovshchina started in April 2018. Construction work was carried out at the expense of Vitebskagropromproduct CJSC by the enterprise's construction team.

The production facilities are designed to house 16,000 pigs, but in the future, it is planned to increase the herd to 30,000 – 32,000. Landscaping work will still be carried out on the territory of the complex, and piglets of Danish breeds began to be brought here a few months ago. Balanced feed is supplied by the Lepel Feed Mill, one of the divisions of Vitebskagropromproduct CJSC.

Animal breeding is carried out using Danish and Dutch technologies: there are no sows at the complex, and it takes only three months to fatten the piglets. Daily weight gain of 800 g has already been achieved.

The plan is to reach 1.2 kg. This will be the highest indicator in the republic.

Due to the short holding periods for animals and its own feed base, the cost of meat production is reduced, and the enterprise's profit increases 2 to 2.5 times compared to other pig farming technologies.

Meat is supplied to the Vitebsk Meat Processing Plant, 1300 tons will be shipped in the near future, and in total, it is planned to sell about 4.4 thousand tons per year. In addition, ZAO Vitebskagroproduct has its own meat products production shop – Slaviansky Meat Processing Plant. So, an increase in livestock is more than justified.

The enterprise has a strict biological control system, and each room has its own sanitary checkpoint. Access to the territory is possible only after sanitary treatment, and in addition, video cameras are used to monitor the interaction between animals and humans. This ensures maximum protection of the livestock from the penetration of diseases.

The employees, and there are 30 of them now, are mainly residents of nearby villages. Many of them worked at the former cattle breeding farm and retrained to work at the new complex. The average salary in the area is 700 rubles per month.

The pig population in the district has grown to 64 thousand individuals, primarily due to the commissioning of the production unit.

As the Chairman of the District Executive Committee, Leonid Pleshko, said, this is the first time such a situation has occurred in the last few decades.

Taking into account all existing private subsidiary farms in Chashniki region, there were no more than 25 thousand pigs in the past. Thus, Leonid Vladimirovich emphasized, this complex is one of the objects determining the life support in the Chashniki district: it is an increase in meat production by 28% over nine months, investments in the economy, including tax revenues, and the creation of new jobs with decent wages.

No less important for Chashniki region was the major overhaul of the infectious diseases department of the Novolukoml Central District Hospital.

In the building constructed in 1970, the general contractor IP "Lukomlremstroy" carried out all the necessary work, including thermal renovation, within four months. For this, the enterprise director Denis Starovoytov was awarded a letter of appreciation by the district executive committee.

Since the situation with infectious diseases in the district has significantly improved thanks to the work of the district hospital's medical staff, the need for a large number of beds has disappeared. Now, the department can accommodate 15 people, including five children.

The chief physician of the Novolukoml Central District Hospital, Nikolai Pinchuk, spoke about the improved working conditions for the department's staff and the enhanced quality of medical care provided to patients.

In addition to the building and wards, the adjacent territory has also been transformed. Vladimir Penin also acknowledged this, noting that the regional authorities will continue to support similar initiatives in the Chashniki District that are aimed at positive changes in people's lives.
