Housing construction cooperatives will assess the quality of construction work in the Vitebsk region

The Ministry of Architecture and Construction is taking the housing construction situation in the region under special control, as reported today by Deputy Minister of Architecture and Construction Sergey Lastochkin. He participated in the meeting of the board of the Vitebsk Regional Committee for State Control, where the results of comprehensive measures to consider citizens' appeals regarding compliance with legislation during the commissioning of residential buildings and the elimination of deficiencies in housing construction facilities were discussed, BELTA correspondent reports. According to the Vitebsk Regional Committee for State Control, the annual target for housing commissioning in the region is under threat of failure. For eight months of 2010, 375 thousand square meters of housing were commissioned, or 52.1% of the annual target, with a target of 80% for January-September. According to Sergey Lastochkin, "the construction of engineering and transport infrastructure in mass housing development microdistricts has failed in the region." At the same time, there are sufficient funds for the construction of utilities - they are not being utilized by construction organizations in a timely manner. According to the deputy minister, the Ministry of Architecture and Construction plans to establish a branch of one of the major enterprises specializing in the construction of engineering networks and utilities in the region by the end of the current year. Control over the quality of construction work will be strengthened in the region. Quarterly meetings are planned with the participation of construction organizations, state construction supervision bodies, representatives of customers, and chairpersons of HCCs to discuss issues of work quality. At the same time, two weeks will be allocated for the elimination of defects identified by the new residents. In case of untimely completion of work, an organization may lose its license. Based on the results of the control measures by the Committee for State Control, some managers of construction organizations in the region will have to undergo unscheduled re-attestation, a decision made by the deputy minister at the board meeting. -0-
