Journalists from the Vitebsk region took part in the forum 'The Role of Regional Media in the Development of Social Partnership'

The Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, together with the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus, has organized this platform for the first time to establish dialogue and exchange experience between trade unions and regional media. A meeting between the Chairman of the FBW Mikhail Ordа and the Minister of Information Lilia Ananich with the forum participants took place at the headquarters of the National Trade Union Center.

— Today, the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus is actively working on the most important issues for workers, concerning the preservation of individual work collectives, timely payment of wages, and so on, — noted the Chairman of the FBW Mikhail Ordа in a conversation with journalists. — For example, a few facts. Over the past 6 months, with the direct participation of trade union lawyers, 79 people were reinstated at work, and more than 17 billion rubles (undenominated) were recovered, which were illegally withheld or not paid by employers. In each of these cases, there is a difficult story of a person who needed help and whom we were able to help.

Mikhail Ordа spoke about the trade union initiatives that have been developed this year, including the need to increase unemployment benefits, as well as the introduction of additional protection measures for contract employees. The Chairman of the FBW also expressed confidence that this meeting will lead to fruitful cooperation between the Federation of Trade Unions and regional media. Joint efforts will increase the amount of information in the regions about the working person and their concerns. In turn, Lilia Ananich noted the effectiveness of this form of dialogue – an open platform for communication between the press from different regions of the country and representatives of the most massive public organization.

— Who better than regional mass media knows the problems of their regions and, most importantly, comprehensively shows how social policy issues are being resolved in the state today. It is very important to have the closest connection through the media, society, and the state, — said Lilia Ananich.

During the meeting, journalists from regional media

were interested in the prospects of the national trade union center's work in the upcoming year, the specifics of collective bargaining regulation, and other areas of trade union activities.
