The famous "5th Communal House" in Vitebsk is ready for reconstruction

Знаменитый "5-й коммунальный дом" в Витебске готов к реконструкции

In 2014, residents were relocated from building No. 25/36 (5th communal) on Maxim Gorky Street. The famous communal house was built in 1927-1929 according to the design of architect A. Vyshelesky for builders, and later for workers of the KIM factory located nearby.

This communal-type residential building is an example of Soviet avant-garde architecture, embodying the ideas of constructivism. The building is a historical and cultural value.

The inspection of the facility has been completed. The enterprise "Vitebskzhilproekt" is developing the design and estimate documentation for the reconstruction of the building. The customer of the works is the Housing and Communal Services Department of Pervomaysky District.

It is planned that the house will retain its residential purpose.
